About Riona

I’m Riona, a self-taught oil painter working from my home studio in Manchester. Photography inspires the way I see everyday things, from rain on a window to headlights on the journey home. I paint the small moments of light that make a familiar scene feel different.

I hope my paintings bring back a memory, whether it’s a place you’ve been or a moment you’d almost forgotten. I love that the same painting can mean something different to each person who sees it.

At home in the studio

I paint from my home studio, starting quite loosely before spending time on the little details. Each droplet takes patience. My favourite part is towards the end, when the light and reflections come together and I can finally see the scene I’ve been working towards.
