This painting captures the kind of pause that only really sinks in as you get older, when a quiet moment on the road feels more reflective than it ever did before. I used cool blues and soft greys to bring out that calm, almost weightless feeling that rain can create when everything around you slows. The red brake lights glow gently through the mist, turning an ordinary scene into a reminder to stop for a second and just notice where you are. While I worked on it, I felt a shift into a more grounded place, one where the world is clearer even when it is blurred by rain. I hope it gives the viewer that same sense of stillness, the kind that settles in before you even realise you needed it.
